Thermal MouldTM Super
Thermal MouldTM Super
Thermal-Mould Super™ is a beryllium-free mold alloy of Copper-Nickel-Silicon-Chrome that has similar hardness and thermal conductivity properties to copper-beryllium coupled. This range of properties makes Thermal-Mould™ Super the premier material for copper alloy molds and a wide range of other applications from oil and gas to aerospace.
In the past, customers who wanted to avoid beryllium but were in need of larger blocks and plates, were forced to use C18000 – a good material but too soft for many mold and die applications. IBC Advanced Alloys has been selling a non-beryllium alloy called Thermal-Mould Super™ since 2009, and we continue to expand our size range and capabilities with this alloy. Thermal-Mould Super™ is a beryllium-free mold alloy, with similar properties (hardness and conductivity) to copper beryllium C17200LH. The alloy is CuNiSiCr. To our knowledge, we are able to make much larger pieces than any other supplier in the world. The largest size typically available from other manufacturers is 4 to 5″ thickness, whereas we can make plates up to 10″ thick. Thermal-Mould Super™ properties are consistent throughout the work piece and in all directions. Our material is easily machined and takes an excellent finish. Welding, grinding, and EDM’ing operations can be performed safely.
